Have you ever felt as though you are being stretched beyond your limit?! Anymore and you just might fall apart. A stretched life is painful. Each time your left wondering if you can take anymore.
There is always a hopeful side to every situation friends. If you feel like you’re about to give up – let me encourage you – DON’T!
We will experience times that we feel our faith, and patience is tested to its capacity. There is purpose in that uncomfortable position.
Rest in these truths:
“So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.” 1 Peter 1:6-7 NLT
When we persevere, we are displaying genuine faith. We are giving the world hope! People will see that our faith rests on the powerful name of Jesus. Through these acts, Jesus is being revealed to the world.
“because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:3-4 NIV
All you need is a little faith
We always have a choice. We can either choose to stay and believe that peace will come, or we can give up and still be facing the same issues with no peace or hope.
Each testing of our faith is an opportunity for us to grow stronger. Stronger in our faith. Stronger in our walk with Him. We become dependent on our Lord – and since He holds the world in His hand – we begin to trust that He has all things under control. We become mature, lacking nothing, because we have become complete in Christ.
There is no faith, a person has now, that didn’t begin with fear. There is no strength, that didn’t begin with weakness. There is no hope, that didn’t begin with hopelessness. Each began as a negative – but, with perseverance and faith, all have been turned into positive, powerful attributes.
Have you realized that there are NO verses in the Bible that tell us that following Jesus is gonna make your life easier?! In fact we are told the exact opposite.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV
Jesus didn’t hold back from telling us that we, WILL have trouble in this life. In times of testing, it’s important that we remember, Jesus instructed us to take heart – be ready — find our peace in Him. Friend there is no hurt, fear or confused emotion we can’t take to Jesus and replace for His peace.
Quiet time and prayer is the only way we can receive His peace. We must keep anxiety out of our hearts and minds. We are not meant to carry the weight of it. Anxiety = fear. When fear grips our hearts we begin to feel that God can’t and/or won’t. Learning to trust in Gods timing is necessary for our growth as well.
God is an on time God. His timing is always perfect. Because, He sees further into our days, than what we could possibly see. Since everything has a purpose, all those stretched moments of life unfold into a beautiful picture – displaying Gods goodness and His power, and how He works all things for our good. The only thing that will blur our vision of this beautiful picture is our selfish needs. Our own wants. We can be our worst enemy. If we take our eyes off ourselves for a moment, and place them on Jesus – we can get a glimpse of the beauty He’s unfolding with these good and bad days.
Change your perspective!
My prayer is that through your stretching season, you will come out refined. Stronger than ever, with a new perspective on life.
Wear those yoga pants loud and proud. Jesus is your instructor.
Rest in Him friend,
