Every now and then – life can throw you a curveball. Make sure your feet are steady on the ground – so you won’t go flying with it at high speed. Bend those knees and stand your ground – life can hit you hard sometimes…

“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground,” Ephesians‬ ‭6:13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We are affirmed to STAND! Evil days will come. Life will hit us hard. Paul prepares the church for such life events.

It’s inevitable, that moments in this life will shake our foundation. By the time we have reached adulthood, we very well, may have experienced some kind of issue in life that has rumbled our ground. Maybe a heartbreak, a loss, or a betrayal? We can learn to face tomorrow with hope.

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for HE who promised is faithful.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The writer of Hebrews is admonishing us to hold unswervingly to hope. In other words stay the course – hold tight, as the road swerves – remain steadfast in our faith.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans‬ ‭12:12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This passage is clearly giving us direction on how to face trials in this life.

  1. Be joyful in hope. Even when we don’t understand what’s going on or why – we make the choice to remain joyful, because we are trusting that God is working things out for our good.
  2. Patient in affliction. As our lives are turned upside down, we must wait and trust God through this process.
  3. Faithful in prayer. Prayer is the key – to be able to take the steps and persevere through the first two directions.

If our prayer life is lacking – our ability to remain joyful in hope will lack. If our prayer life is weak – our ability to be patient in affliction will be weak. Prayer is key, to apply this verse in its richness, so that we can experience the fullness of this verse in our lives.

Here’s where the problem begins, and why we fall on our face through trials of life…

  • We aren’t spending enough quiet time with God.
  • We put our focus on the problem – rather, than on the problem solver – JESUS.
  • We allow issues of life to cause us, to lose heart.

Instead of telling God, how big your problems are – tell your problems, how big your God is.

A few years ago I experienced something as a mother that rocked my world. My daughter Faith began to have what seemed as some type of seizures at the age of 6 months old. I can still go back to that fear that began to take place in our hearts. Wondering, what this would do to her future? Would this last all her life? How bad would this become? Would she be able to live a normal life? All these things, just racing through my mind. One day my husband and I were just holding each other as, Faith had just gone through another episode. As we held each other broken – my husband spoke out loud, “though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” {Job 13:15} Immediately as he spoke Gods word, I began to have this sense of peace. Like I knew in my heart – that we were gonna be ok.

Months later I was at church, checking on Faith in the nursery. The woman who was watching her, is a faithful woman of God and is very sensitive to the Holy Spirit. She spoke to me about Faiths condition. She encouraged me to lay hands on Faith and my husband and pray healing over their lives. I knew she had heard from God when she said; “You need to speak that word ‘seizure’ and command it to leave their body”. When I prayed over them – I feared saying the word ‘seizure’, because I felt as if I was accepting it in their lives.

Well good news is, I did as she encouraged me to do. As of today both my husband and my daughter Faith live a life free of epilepsy.

“Instead of telling God, how big my problem is – I told my problem, how big my God is!”

The very one who made this earth come into existence by just speaking – gave me the authority in His name, to speak healing over my family. I had to completely rely on my BIG God for this miracle.

Friends, God gives this authority not only to me, but to us all who believe we can possess it in faith, to bring His name GLORY!
God doesn’t want us to be blown away and tossed by the sea, like the waves. He wants us to be steady in our walk – immovable, unshakable and ready to hit the ground standing tall on our knees, when life hits hard.

My friend, Jesus is our answer. He is our HOPE. He is our PEACE. He is our LOVE.

“You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.” Psalm 119:114 NIV

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15 NIV

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18 NIV”

DON’T let fear have control over your emotions! You can bring them into subjection. YOU have that power through Jesus Christ! Remain steadfast in Christ. God will not put you to shame! Today is National Day of Prayer! Let me encourage you to PRAY! Pray. Pray. Pray.

Rest in Him friend,

With Love,

Rosie Hernandez
